At Custom Patch Smith, we create custom patches for fire departments, stations, crews, specialized units, academies, and first responder organizations. Choose from embroidered, PVC, woven, leather, and printed patches, with Velcro, sew-on, and iron-on backing options to suit your needs.
From a single commemorative patch to a large department order, we focus on detailed artwork, clean finishing, quality materials, and consistent craftsmanship. You can also review your design with a free digital mockup before production, helping you make sure the final design reflects your vision.

My Custom Patch Smith Experience
I have nothing but great things to say about this company, they make the greatest patch work I've seen. They are trust worthy and I have not once messaged them that they haven't messaged me back that same day or early the next. This is how every company should treat its customers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequent questions answers
A: Embroidered patches are the most popular choice for fire department dress and duty uniforms — they offer the classic, regulation-ready look departments expect. PVC patches are ideal for turnout gear and helmets because they're waterproof, heat-resistant, and won't fade in harsh conditions.
A: We offer iron-on, sew-on, and velcro backing. Velcro is popular for fire department patches because it allows easy removal for washing and swapping between uniforms. Sew-on provides the most permanent attachment.
A: Yes. We use 100% polyester embroidery thread, which is rated for industrial wash temperatures (160-180 degrees Fahrenheit) and repeated high-heat cycles. Rayon thread, used by cheaper suppliers, degrades and fades under those conditions. We do not use rayon. Stitched Velcro (not glued) also survives repeated gear swaps without adhesive failure.
A: Absolutely. We produce patches for charity runs, MDA Fill the Boot campaigns, fire prevention week, retirement ceremonies, and community outreach events. Event patches are a great way to build community support and department pride.
A: No, there is no minimum order quantity required. You can order as few or as many patches as you need. Volume discounts apply at 50, 100, 200, and 500+ pieces. The more you order, the lower the per-patch price.
A: Yes. We work with IAFF locals for union jacket patches, event patches, chapter identification, and charity fundraiser runs. Union orders typically run 50-200 pieces and we price them competitively. We can also provide formal invoicing for union treasurers.
A: Yes. Fire department seals, Maltese crosses, and bugle rank insignia require precise reproduction that most general patch suppliers get wrong. Send us your official artwork, a vector file, or a high-resolution photo of your badge and our design team matches every detail. You review a digital mockup in 12 to 24 hours before production starts, with unlimited revisions.
A: Yes. Bring a sample of your current patch or your previous order number and we reproduce thread colors from the same palette. Consistency matters when new patches sit next to existing ones on a uniform, and we archive your color specs for 12 months. Reorders typically ship within 11-15 business days.
